Watch out
- Green card: check that the box 'MA' is not struck out. If it is, buy border insurance at the port (about €60 for 10 days).
- The dirham (MAD) is a closed currency: you may take at most MAD 2,000 in or out. Change money in Morocco and keep the receipts.
- Radars and police checks are frequent, especially at town entrances. Fines are paid on the spot; ask for a receipt.
- Tizi n'Tichka (N9, Marrakech–Ouarzazate) and other Atlas passes can close for snow from December to March. Check before you go.
- A warning triangle, a hi-vis vest and a spare wheel are advised; we could not confirm whether they are mandatory.
