  • Many AP motorways have been toll-free since 2020–2021; some still charge per section.
  • Every city over 50,000 people must have a ZBE. Foreign cars cannot get a Spanish DGT label.
  • Madrid and Barcelona: foreign cars must register first (Madrid by email, Barcelona online via AMB). Barcelona fines €200, weekdays 7 am–8 pm.
  • Rule of thumb: diesel at least Euro 4, petrol at least Euro 3.
